On Sunday, 9/17, 16 AGWA Chapter H bikes journeyed
to the Chestnut Mt.
ski resort near Galena, IL. The purpose was to "conquer" the slopes
using specially designed sleds.
The first stop was the "Tower", just outside of Galena.
determining that the coast was clear, the group fortified themselves
with a hearty lunch at the Log Cabin restaurant in Galena.
After lunch, we rode to Chestnut mountain to meet our
destiny. Only one
member wiped out on the downhill run (he claims his sled had Firestone
runners). After several near record runs, the exhausted group got on
their bikes & managed to ride to Oregon, IL, where they replenished
their strength with ice cream at Jay's drive in.
The weather was perfect, the company was good &
a good time was had by
